Our group studies applied organic chemistry at the intersection of chemistry and biology, integrating molecular design, reaction development, and advanced fluorescence-based methods. Our current primary interest is in CO₂-responsive molecular sensors that selectively react with CO₂ and signal its presence through tunable fluorescence outputs. By applying these sensors in cellular environments, we investigate fundamental questions about CO₂ production, localization, and signaling in biological systems. We offer a project for Developing and optimizing CO₂-responsive fluorescent sensors, including mechanistic and photophysical characterization
