Many small-molecule probes or drug discovery efforts start by selecting a target that is expected to modulate a pathway or disease of interest. In the past years, we have developed small molecules capable of interacting with various biomacromolecules related to several diseases. We designed strategies to fight microbial infections via direct and indirect cell-membrane perturbations. Furthermore, we have developed novel small molecules that recognize and degrade toxic RNAs causing various genetic diseases.
