Semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals, also called quantum dots (QDs) are used in many applications e.g. photovoltaic cells, light emitting diodes, photodetectors, up\down conversion and more. QDs optical and electronic properties can be easily manipulated by their size, shape, composition and surface. In this talk, charge carrier dynamics and mechanism will be explored. QDs hot carriers intraband relaxation will be reviewed by methods such as femtosecond transient absorption and ultrafast photoluminescence spectroscopy. Understanding the charge carrier dynamics can help designing the QDs to best fit each specific application.
